ane-flow Test Rig    Click here to download PDF leaflet

The Turbo Technics Vane-flow Test Rig (VTR) has been developed due to an ever-growing demand from within the turbocharger repair and remanufacturing industry.
The advent of variable geometry turbochargers within the automotive market has had a major impact on vehicle performance and driveability. However, up until the launch of the VTR, the only effective means of rectifying a turbocharger fault, irrespective of how minor, was to replace the turbocharger for a new unit, usually at great expense.
The VTR provides the only means away from the production line by which the gas-flow through the turbine mechanism can be measured and adjusted to reflect the factory settings.
Consequently, through the effective use of the VTR customers may not need to buy a complete replacement turbocharger, when a clean of the turbine mechanism or a change of bearings may be all that is needed to get them back on the road. Remanufacturers and repairers of turbochargers can now have the confidence to strip turbos with variable geometry turbine mechanisms in the knowledge that they can not only rebuild them, but also reset the turbine mechanisms to the factory settings.
The VTR is compatible with both pressure and vacuum actuators but will also be upgradeable in the future to test electronic actuators.
A comprehensive database is included with the VTR which includes the recommended flow rates, by turbocharger part number, where the factory settings have previously been measured. This database will expand as new turbochargers are released into the market and can either be added to locally as settings become known or the database updated from Turbo Technics’ master record.
The VTR also provides a means by which conventional wastegates can be accurately checked and calibrated, especially in the case of high-performance or competition turbochargers.

Please contact Turbo Technics or one of its authorised distributors for further details on the VTR.
